NAXOS-DISKUS was founded in 1871 and is located in Butzbach, Hesse, Germany. It has over 150 years of experience in the field of grinding and abrasives. The products mainly include double-sided end face grinding, cylindrical grinding, centerless grinding and gear dressing and other grinding tools. The precision grinding tools produced are widely used in metal processing, automobile, aviation, shipping and other industries. Parts range from 350mm to 1650mm, with a choice of different abrasives, including traditional abrasive grains and ultra-hard cutting materials such as CBN and diamond.

Internal and external cylindrical grinding
Products and technologies
Internal and external cylindrical grinding is used to grind the cylindrical surface and shoulder of the workpiece. The workpiece is centrally mounted and rotated by a device called a center drive, and the grinding wheel and workpiece are rotated at different speeds by separate motors. Internal and external cylindrical grinding is one of the most common methods for grinding camshafts and crankshafts. NAXOS-DISKUS offers materials commonly used in coarse grinding, fine grinding and oblique plunge grinding.
1. CBN and diamond cylindrical grinding wheels
High precision, high hardness, high repeatability grinding

Highlights:
The wheels are based on specially coated CBN abrasives and newly developed ceramic and synthetic resin bonds.
CBN grinding wheels can be used to process extremely hard alloys and carbide-containing alloys, as well as tool steel, special steel and other materials.
Diamond grinding wheels have extremely high external hardness and can be used to grind amorphous metallic materials as well as extremely high hardness metallic materials.
2. Crankshaft grinding wheel
High stability, high durability, high precision grinding

Highlights:
Crankshaft grinding wheels generally use vitrified bond.
Different types of grinding wheels are available depending on the type of grinding task: single-layer manufacturing for the bearing seat and three-layer manufacturing for grinding the shaft shoulder and bearing seat in one go.
The three-layer crankshaft grinding wheel has higher stability and longer service life.
Able to meet the strict production tolerance requirements of engine manufacturers and others.
3. Centerless grinding wheel
High stability, high durability, high precision grinding

Highlights:
Centerless grinding involves two different processing techniques: continuous grinding and plunge grinding. Depending on the application, you can choose a single or split wheel to facilitate the loading and unloading operation when replacing the wheel.
Centerless grinding wheels maximize precision and accuracy when designing and manufacturing the transition section of slotted grinding wheels to avoid leaving marks on the workpiece.
By adjusting the particle size and hardness of the abrasive grains in different areas of the grinding wheel, the chip removal rate on the feed side can be increased while ensuring good surface quality on the discharge side.
4. XXL cylindrical grinding wheel
Maximum diameter up to 1600 mm

Highlights:
The maximum diameter can reach 1600mm, which can handle huge crankshafts on marine engines.
The production of large grinding wheels requires a high degree of specialized production capabilities. Dimensions are increased while tolerances are reduced to meet extremely tight tolerance ranges.

End of grinding
Products and technologies

End face grinding is to place the workpiece on the end face of the grinding wheel for grinding, and the grinding wheel transmits the grinding force to the end face of the workpiece through rotation. It is suitable for grinding the end faces of workpieces, such as flat and round end faces and other shapes.

Highlights:
It adopts ceramic or resin bonded CBN and diamond grinding wheels, which can be used with steel or aluminum substrates to ensure long service life and high processing precision.
Widely used in metal machining and ceramic processing, such as piston ring grinding.

Double-sided grinding wheel
High stability, low temperature grinding and reduced machine load

Highlights:
The newly developed high-performance resin makes the bonding quantity lower and adjustable. It also makes the grinding wheel full of particles, smooth grinding, easy to dress, and improves wet wear resistance.
The surface precision of double-end grinding can reach µ level, and about 1.6mm of material on the surface of the blank can be removed.
The low temperature grinding performance of CoolEdge GrindPro wheels effectively solves the problem that some special parts cannot be equipped with additional cooling slots or the coolant nozzles cannot reach the optimal position.
Particularly suitable for processing heat-sensitive parts such as ceramic components.

dressing tool
Products and technologies

Dressing tools can be fine-tuned down to the micron level. In the process of restoring the circumferential profile of the grinding wheel and resetting it, new abrasive cutting edges are exposed, improving the cutting performance of the tool while reducing cutting forces and associated workpiece temperatures during grinding.
Highlights:
After dressing, the wheel is like new (profiling/grinding).
The tool dressing process can be performed before or after initial machining.
Dressing wheels can dress complex wheel profiles as well as simple cylindrical wheels of varying widths.
The cutting process can be automated.
After cutting, stable and high precision processing can be achieved and the scrap rate can be reduced.
