In the industrial production scene, machines and equipment are like tireless dancers, showing us precise and efficient skills day and night. However, even the best dancers can falter sometimes and the grinder can sometimes malfunction.

Especially under the influence of high temperatures in summer, poor maintenance of grinding machines and long-term operation are prone to thermal deformation of components, electrical system failures, increased load on the cooling system, control system errors, etc., leading to accelerated aging of the grinding machine, reduced precision and decreased production efficiency.

When a grinder breaks down, it is essential to get it back up and running as quickly as possible.

1. Reboot

There is a saying: “When in doubt, reboot and fix the problem.” » This method is simple and practical. Newer CNC grinding machines are based on Windows operating systems. Long-term continuous operation may cause slow response of the operating system or programming software, delays, etc. Nothing can refresh a tired system than rebooting it. Additionally, when you encounter an unknown fault alarm, you can also try restarting to resolve the problem.

However, before restarting, it is recommended to take photos or videos to record the failure site of the grinder, so that the subsequent customer service team can better solve the problem for you.

2. Check the electrical cabinet

When a grinder trips, a common method for quick troubleshooting and effective repair is to check the electrical cabinet. Open the electrical cabinet and check the thermal protection, circuit breaker, DC power supply and fuses. If the tripping is caused by the above electrical components, the problem will be resolved after resetting. Be careful not to touch the high voltage parts of the electrical cabinet!

3. Software

In many cases, mill operators load the FANUC controller but forget to load the OEM software. Take the example of tool sharpening and its proprietary TOOL STUDIO software. If the operator forgets to start FANUC at the same time as the TOOL STUDIO software, not all functions will be available and some applications will not be able to perform tasks.

If your shredder is several years old or older, the software may not be on the desktop and can be found in the location shown. Make sure that when starting FANUC, the combined grinding software is also started and running at the same time.

4. Feed speed switch

A feed rate switch can slow or speed up the cutting action on the grinder. When the program starts, if the grinder does not move, check if the feed switch is in the zero 0% position. If the switch is in the zero 0 position at this time, try setting the knob to the 100% magnification position.

5. Emergency stop button (E-stop)

As we all know, grinders have an emergency stop button on the panel, but did you know that there are various small buttons on handheld devices as well? The emergency stop button is one of them. When the grinder driver cannot be powered on and is accompanied by an emergency stop alarm, please check whether all emergency stop buttons have been released.

6. The operating status of all equipment connected to the crusher

In the event of an alarm from peripheral equipment, the operating status of all equipment connected to the crusher must be checked. Taking the cooling device as an example, by checking three locations in the video, we can determine whether the equipment is working normally.

7. Explosion-proof upper door

This article concerns the WALTER grinder. Taking G 200 as an example, sometimes after carrying out maintenance on the top of the equipment, the maintenance personnel did not completely lower the explosion-proof door, resulting in the explosion-proof lock not being closed and triggering an alarm emergency stop. . At this point, simply press and close the explosion-proof door on the top of the grinder to solve this problem.
