2. Tool selection: Geometry, Paint and Wear Management

    • Single-line end mill: Reduce friction and heat accumulation by effectively evacuating the chip.
    • Fierce drill bit: Prevent surface marking by lifting the chip from the cutout.
    • Polished flute: Minimize adhesion of melted materials.

  • Tool wear: The blunt tool will generate excess heat. We perform strict tool life tracking and change bits after 6-8 hours of acrylic cutting.


3. Speed, feed and chip load: three affecta of efficiency

  • Cutting speed (RPM): 10,000–18,000 rpm optimized thermal dispersion. Higher speeds will cause melting; lower speeds will increase debris.
  • Feed rate:50–150 IPM (in inches per minute) – Attack feed prevents thermal concentration, but the risk of tool deflection must be balanced.
  • Chip load:0.1–0.3 mm per tooth ensures the chip carries heat. Too low, heating; too high, edge integrity is affected.

    Real-world examples:For 6mm single fat tool, we run 100 IPM feed at 16,000 rpm to achieve a chip load of 0.15 mm.


4. Cutting depth: prevents pressure and vibration

  • Axial depth of cutting (DOC): 0.5–1.5× tool diameter. Deeper cutting increases pressure and tool deflection (e.g., 6mm tool ≤3mm).
  • Radial pedal: 10–40% of tool diameter. Lighter steps (10-20%) improve the quality of the finish pass.

5. Cooling and chip evacuation

  • Air coolant: High-pressure air explodes debris and suppresses heat. no way Use water or oil-acrylic acid to absorb moisture and shade the surface.

  • Soft chin: Customized silicone coated fixtures prevent surface scratches.

  • Wet pad: Absorb the harmonic vibration in the five-axis setting.

7. Surface finishing and post-treatment

  • Processing finish: Finally, the near-polished edge was obtained by using the new tool at a high speed/lower feeding.
  • Flame polishing: To obtain optical level clarity, we melt the edges over the hydrogen flame.
  • Scratch-resistant coating: The surgical surface protected by the ultraviolet adhesive film.
