Where custom parts go wrong

Four problems that stall a build

Most of these show up after you have already paid for tooling or freight. They are avoidable.

01

Dimensional drift between the sample and the run

The first article checks out. Parts 40 through 200 creep past the tolerance band because the process was never locked. You re-inspect, sort, and scrap. On a bracket that means a rework loop and a slipped build date.

02

A feature the 3-axis setup cannot reach

Undercuts, deep pockets, and holes on five faces force multiple setups. Every refixture adds stack-up error. If the shop quotes it as a simple mill job, the drawing and the delivered part stop matching.

03

The quote arrives a week late

Engineering changes while you wait. By the time pricing lands, the design has moved and the quote is dead. Slow quoting costs you the iteration, not just the money.

04

No paper trail for the lot

You get parts in a box. No material cert, no inspection report, no traceability to the heat number. Auditors and customers ask for it later, and the data no longer exists.

How we build it

One process from drawing to inspected part

DFM feedback, machining, finishing, and inspection under one roof, so nothing gets lost between suppliers.

Five-axis cutting that removes the refixture

Complex geometry is where precision custom components manufacturing earns its keep. Our 16 simultaneous 5-axis machining centers cut angled faces, contoured pockets, and compound holes in a single setup. Fewer setups mean less stack-up error and a part that matches the model, not an average of three fixtures.

We hold ±0.005 mm on features that matter. Not every dimension on every drawing needs that. We will tell you which ones the machine can hold and which ones would cost more than they are worth.

Materials and finishing

Metal and plastic, finished in-house

Component material drives the cutting strategy. Aluminum 6061 and 7075 run fast with light chiploads. 316L stainless work-hardens if you dwell, so we keep the tool moving. Plastics behave differently again: POM and PA machine clean, while PEEK needs sharp tooling and controlled heat to avoid stress marks.

Finishing happens in the same building. Anodizing, electroless nickel, bead blasting, and laser marking are sequenced with the machining operation, so a coated part never sits in a queue waiting for a third party.

What we do

Services behind one quote

Send one drawing and we route it to the right process. No handoffs between vendors.

01

5-Axis CNC Machining

Simultaneous five-axis cutting for contoured and prismatic parts. Best when features sit on more than three faces.

02

CNC Milling and Turning

3-axis and 4-axis milling plus mill-turn centers for shafts, housings, and bushings. Tight concentricity.

03

Rapid Prototyping

One to fifty parts with no tooling. Production can start within 24 hours of an approved quote.

04

Sheet Metal Fabrication

Brackets, panels, and enclosures. Laser cut, formed, and finished to match machined parts.

05

Die Casting and Vacuum Casting

Aluminum die casting for volume, vacuum casting for smooth prototypes and bridge tooling.

06

Surface Finishing

Anodizing, plating, powder coating, blasting, and laser marking, sequenced with machining.

FAQs

Questions engineers ask before sending a drawing

What tolerance can you actually hold on a production run, not just a sample?

We hold ±0.005 mm on critical features across the run, provided the geometry allows it. Deep bores with a high depth-to-diameter ratio, thin unsupported walls, and soft plastics are harder, and we will flag those before quoting.

If a dimension does not need that tolerance, say so. Chasing ±0.005 mm on a clearance hole adds inspection time and cost for no benefit.

When should I choose 5-axis over 3-axis?

Choose 5-axis when features sit on more than three faces, when the part has contoured surfaces, or when refixturing would stack up too much error. Angled holes and undercuts usually settle the question.

For a flat plate with holes on one face, 3-axis is faster and cheaper. There is no reason to pay for five axes you do not use.

Which materials do you machine most often?

Aluminum 6061-T6 and 7075 for structural parts, 303 and 316L stainless for corrosion resistance, and POM or PEEK for insulating and wear components. Titanium TC4 and Inconel are available when the application needs them.

Material choice changes feeds, speeds, and tooling. Send the alloy if it is fixed. If it is not, we can suggest one that machines better for the same function.

Do you have a minimum order quantity?

No. We run single prototypes and production lots above 10,000 parts. Setup cost is spread across the batch, so per-unit price falls as quantity rises.

For one-off parts, expect the setup to dominate the quote. That is normal for any shop without dedicated tooling.

How fast is quoting and shipping?

Quotation and free DFM analysis come back within 12 hours. Production can start within 24 hours of approval, and parts typically ship in 3–5 days.

If a finish such as hardcoat anodizing is involved, add time for the coating line. We will state it in the quote rather than surprise you later.

What inspection data do I get?

Every lot is inspected 100% before shipment. That covers incoming raw material check, in-process monitoring, and final inspection.

Inspection reports and material certificates are available on request. Ask for them at the quoting stage so the documentation is built into the job.

How do you protect my design?

Uploads are secure and confidential. We sign a non-disclosure agreement on request before you send files.

We do not reuse customer designs, tooling, or programs for other clients. If your part is under NDA with your own customer, tell us and we will match the terms.

Can you take a part from prototype straight into production?

Yes. The prototype run uses the same machines and fixtures as production, so what passes at quantity one should pass at quantity 10,000.

If the design changes after prototyping, we re-quote rather than absorb the change silently. You see the cost difference before committing.
