Material and wall control
Spoke windows milled with short tools and light radial cuts
Spoke windows are the hard part. We rough them with a smaller stepover and leave 0.3 mm for the finishing pass, then take that finish cut at full depth so the wall thickness stays uniform around the window. Thin walls move when you push them. We would rather spend cycle time than scrap a set.
Material choice follows the load case. 6061-T6 is the default for street wheels: good strength, machines clean, takes anodizing evenly. 7075 gives more fatigue strength where the spoke meets the rim, at the cost of a slower cut and a less forgiving weld. ADC12 castings are machined to final dimensions when the customer supplies a near-net blank.
