Involute Splines & Quality Assurance

To guarantee a perfect fit for involute splines, we recommend including gaging in your project budget. Full complement gaging is especially important for complex or hard-to-reach splines and harder materials. For small batch quantities or reverse-engineered parts where gaging may not be practical, we can use your mating part as the standard, or develop both male and female components as needed.

Keyways, Shaping & Broaching

We offer both shaping and broaching for producing keyways and internal splines, maintaining tight tolerances throughout the process.

  • Shaping: Widths from 1/16″ to 3/8″, depths from 0.032″ to 0.5″, lengths up to 6″
  • Broaching: Widths from 0.063″ to 1″, depths from 0.031″ to 0.5″, lengths up to 5″

Our facility is fully equipped to handle customer-specific requirements for both keyways and splines.

Internal & Straight-Sided Splines

For internal straight-sided splines, we use broaching or shaping depending on the quantity, size, and length required. Broaching is typically more efficient for larger runs, while shaping may be used for specialized or lower-volume needs
